I just don't feel dead, but the shadows act like we don't really exist. They walk straight through us. It's so weird.

[ he hums... ] ...And as far as hiking goes... I sort of had to get used to it. I've got a lot of friends who live in the Wood Territory.

I've been thinking it's probably some kind of illusion, since we can't touch them, but something that widespread... It would take a lot of people to pull it off.

[tilting her head]

Where is that? I don't think I've heard of it.

It's back in this place called the Klein Continent. It's... hard to explain.

There's magic where you're from?

Hard to explain?

[she nods]

Yeah. All different kinds. You aren't the first person I've talked to where that's not the case, though.

[silicone]

A little. I'm not originally from there. I'm from a world without magic and ended up there by accident—So I had to adapt...

[ gestures a little tiredly ]

Now I'm here and it's... even more confusing?

[medeian]

[blinks]

By accident? How? I wonder if it could give us an idea of how we got here.

[silicone]

Well! Some rich dude sent our company this really expensive gemstone that he wanted us to design a whole specialty toy around [ i ] and like... I was handling the thing because I'm the designer and poof. I ended up on the Klein Continent.

I have no idea how I ended up here though. I'm about as lost as everyone else in that regard.

[medeian]

So the gemstone was enchanted...?

[absolutely thinking of the wrong kind of toy]

I've never heard of something so powerful. That's fascinating.

Yeah, it was super weird. Came in the mail and I was trying to examine it... ended up responding to some spell that Aster and Morvay were casting and I just. You know. Wrong place, wrong time. But it's... not with me anymore. [ he tugs at the leather string looped twice around his neck, where the bottom is empty now. ] I think Topper's a real gem though, so. Maybe I lucked out.

Did you find a way to make it home?

[giving a smile to topper, though.]

He's pretty cute, yeah.

No. Not yet...

Sometimes I don't think I wanna go back home from the Klein Continent... kind of like my new life there.

[medeian]

Really? What about your family?

[silicone]

Don't really have one. Raised in an orphanage 'til I was old enough to head out on my own. So there's no family waiting for me back on Earth. Just like... some coworkers and a crazy job with no benefits and shit pay...

[medeian]

I'm so sorry, um... I should have thought before I asked.

You never know who you're gonna run into. I'm cool with it. Promise. Besides, like... the people I've met on the Klein Continent really make up for it.

Yeah? They've been pretty welcoming?

They were... despite expecting someone else. And they've been really kind to me ever since.

A sorcerer guy named Huey. He went missing for a really long time and I'm... kind of his successor? Somehow?

I don't really understand it considering I come from a totally different world, but I'm trying to kind of do my best and roll with the punches.

Oh, yeah. Do you want to know about the magic, or...? There's all different kinds.

Different kinds? Are you especially familiar with a like... type? Man, I'm just curious in general. All these other worlds are so cool.

Oh, yeah. Anyone who can do magic where I'm from has a specialty - mine is physics.
