[ fuzzy friend just cheeps a little, continuing to peek before climbing up eiden's leg to lean over his shoulder. he peeks at the bowling ball and her fingers and hums. he pats his pockets briefly and swears a little before shaking his head. ]

Well... not much better than that actually, unless we wanna find some McDonald's fries or something. You got a mean throwing arm?

I do have a pretty mean arm.

[she's going to kind of wind it up.]

But I don't want to scare that little guy.

[ oh no... eiden grins, reaching for topper and gently holding him in his lap. his bushy tail swishes easily as his tiny head tilts! ]

I'll keep him safe right here, don't worry about him. Show us what you got!

[ topper cheeps almost like a cheer? ]

[well she's going to try and roll the ball off as hard as she can. it takes a few tries but eventually it slips free and just slams hard into the wall of the bowling alley.]

[ oh help. there it goes. it... right... into the wall i... oh... man. eiden sweats a little as the shadows keep bowling and just. sort of chuckles. oops. ]

Well... I've got clue how that happened. You didn't see anything, did you, Topper? For all we know that bowling ball was always there.

[ he squeaks in agreement. ]

Are your fingers free now?

[she flexes her little paw hands.]

[ topper squeaks happily and eiden grins. ]

I like your paws. They look so neat... I guess they would make bowling hard though. Maybe we should try and find a ball with bigger holes for your fingers, that way it'd be more comfortable...

[ he's picking up a bowling ball to have a look at the hole diameter, squinting. are these the same? they are probably the same. damn. ]

How're you finding this place? The city's a little sparse, but the bowling alley feels kinda lively at least.

It's a lot of fun. Everyone is pretty funny and nice.

Yeah, the company really isn't that bad. Lucky for us. What's home like for you? I've only ever seen yokai with their ears or claws out... even then, they're kind of cagey about it.

[honkinbigteeth]

...I was trying to be kind of cagey about it too, but I let my guard down a bit.

[in the intro log covering herself with a cape, but she gave up on that fast.]

You should tell me about yokai, because I haven't heard of that. Home for me is the Neverafter.

The Neverafter... Okay, but we'll trade. Tell me about the Neverafter... after!

[ he hums ] Yokai are these... supernatural creatures, pretty territorial and protective of their homes. Some look like animals—foxes, bears, birds... They live deep in the woods where I was before, the Klein Continent. And they have a really intense society. Some of them are very old by hundreds of years, and can cast powerful illusions over crowds.

If you're patient and you listen to them, though... sometimes you can speak with them, and there's a lot to learn.

There are a lot of creatures in the Neverafter that sound a little like that. Animals, but older, able to talk. They can be dangerous, but they don't have to be.
