[ eiden says this and it's affection, purely. the feedback from fukuzawa is met with a warm curiosity as they make their way inside. eiden stays close, the calm bleeding into his own contentment. it feels good, and eiden looks thoughtfully at their surroundings. glancing over his shoulder: ]

We didn't have much luck at the museum, so maybe the library will offer more.

[There's a spark of excitement there too. No matter what history is to be found, he wants to see it.]

[ eiden's eyes widen a bit and his smile does thereafter. he maybe loses himself a minute and takes fukuzawa's wrist gently. ] That's a pretty good hypothesis... let's test it and see if maybe it's right.

[ oh he's excited now. the game is afoot. to the history section they go hehe. ]

[The library is pretty big, so it takes a bit of wandering but they eventually find the history section! Fukuzawa is quickly pulling out anything that says 'world history', but as he looks at things he's frowning.]

Most of these are information about Earth, but there's a few that aren't.

[ eiden peers over his shoulder and blinks a few times before smiling. ]

Hey! That's where I was before I ended up here. It's where Yakumo's from too. The Klein Continent.

[ there's a soft little pang, but eiden's smile doesn't waver. he misses it. ]

[It's nothing too crazy, just basic geographical information.]

They named the territories after elements...which one did you go to?

The Light Territory... that's where I met Aster and Morvay.

[ a small smile ] Huey's familiars. He was the Grand Sorcerer before me, before he went missing.

[ it feels weird to say that, fukuzawa can probably feel the uncertainty. ]

So you're the grand sorcerer?

[He can sense that uncertainty, but maybe his admiration of Eiden will help?]

[ o-oh... eiden's ears go a little pink. the admiration is a little embarrassing, but suitably reassuring? he stands up a little straighter. ]

Yeah. That's me. The Grand Sorcerer, from humble beginnings. [ a beat before he points at the map with a finger: ] Each Territory has an altar. I've been traveling around and regulating them with my clan members.

With magic? That must be quite a change, if you are from Earth originally.

Yeah. Sort of. There's where it gets complicated.

[ oh here's the feeling of defeat again. but he's smiling through it. like nothing's wrong. ]

I'm like a battery - I found out that on the Klein Continent, I have a lot of Essence, magical power, and... while I can't use it... instead, I give it to my clan members. I can use it to help heal them too, so I try my best to be helpful!

[Interestingly enough, there will be a flash of recognition there.]

Your magic and my ability are similar then. I can't use my ability on myself, but by giving it to those at the agency they have better control of their own abilities and can reach their max potential more easily.

That's quite an invaluable skill you have there.

[ eiden seems thoughtful about this for a moment, head tilted a little bit because the way that fukuzawa describes it, his ability does pull its weight. he can't help but get lost inside of his own head, but what he's said has at least abated this uncertainty for the moment. ]

Just have to learn to protect myself a little better, I think...

Mmm, that's the hard part. It's why I carry my sword. I had to learn to fight against the abilities of others, while being unable to use one myself.

A sword might be a bit much for you, but something defensive might work.

Mmm, I've gotten good at summoning walls...

[ during basketball he was able to conjure up a nice one, but man he was wiped after that. ]

But that's as defensive as I got. I summoned a blade once... but it was mostly just to see if I could...

Photokinesis, right? How about doing a quick flash of light to blind an attacker?

But, I do wonder what happens if I don't really have any other choice but to fight.

Blinding them is a good first step. After that, run for your warehouse. Only teammates can enter them, you should be safe there.

That's the plan, definitely... blinding them should give me a good head start.

And when you spend your Thursday nights outside of your warehouse, don't wander too far away. The closer you are, the less distance you have to run.
