[Well, Kaveh's got a bottle of wine tucked in one arm and two Mcdonald's cups in one hand, his phone in the other--but as soon as Eiden comes out he'll put everything down. He reaches out tentatively, just in case Eiden flinches away; if he doesn't, Kaveh will pull him into a tight hug.]
[ oh the tight hug... is everything he needs right now. he immediately falls into it and is just sort of. shaking as he wraps his arms around and clutches him back tightly.
[Kaveh nods; reluctantly, he lets Eiden go and steps back. He keeps a loose hold on Eiden's wrist, as though to gently guide him to sit down so they can drink together--but then he stops, hesitating, and turns back.]
Eiden, I can't--I have to tell you that I--this is partly my fault. [He has to get it out, before he just... invites himself to Eiden's company like he normally would. The guilt of voting incorrectly is eating him alive.] It wasn't because of you, but I--[No, there's no excuse he can give. Nothing he can do to take it back now.] I'm so sorry. I understand if you, um--if you just want to take it and go.
[Eiden can have the whole bottle and slam the door in his face if he wants; it's exactly what Kaveh deserves, as far as he's concerned.]
[ he will go sit with him, he's easy to guide, if a little slow about it, but stops when kaveh does, and his expression is just. so tired. ]
Kaveh... it's done already. [ his lips tighten, and it's not any sort of anger towards him, as much as he wants to feel it, he knows that shu and nahida and kaveh have already lost someone. he keeps hearing everyone talking about teams of four and it makes him so mad that he trembles a bit. ] I just want to drink with you... as friends. And not think about tomorrow...
[In truth, Kaveh doesn't think he deserves this. It doesn't matter that he was afraid for someone else, that he was mourning someone from his own world--at the end of the day, he's responsible for this. He'll carry that with him until he dies, and if Eiden wakes up tomorrow and decides to never speak to him again, he'll only feel that Eiden was too kind for not making that choice sooner.
But it's the height of selfishness to focus on his own guilt right now. He didn't come here to be absolved--he came for Eiden. So he nods quickly.]
Yes, of course. Anything you want.
[He's a touch hesitant, still, but then he guides Eiden down to sit, and takes a seat close beside him. He reaches for the wine he brought; he'll fill both their cups, and push one towards Eiden.]
Split it with me... [ he smiles, small. sniffs a little bit and knocks the cups together. ] Makes the taste better. That's what I learned when I was a kid. Sharing makes everything taste better.
Well... I was born on Earth. It kind of looks like Japanifornia. But... almost two years before all of uh... this.
[ gesturing with his cup, he points a finger and one small photokinesis light ball shows up, green and blue. earth. another one appears near it, and this one shimmers like some impossibly beautiful gemstone, colors colliding. he points to it. ]
I ended up in a totally different world. The one that Yakumo is from.
Something like that. I don't really know much about it, just that they're searching for their sibling and traveling the world. To be honest, I wouldn't say I know them that well--I've only spent a little time with them one-on-one.
[He's known them for months]
Two years is a long time, though... do you miss earth?
... You know, after today... I don't. I don't miss the overtime work, or the way I'm broke all the time... I like the Klein Continent, and... [ a small huff, his eyes are fond. ] I'm the new Grand Sorcerer. They need me.
[Aww, Eiden. Kaveh's gaze softens at the look on his face, and he squeezes Eiden's hand again.
He can't imagine Shen Qingqiu or Gyuhyuk allowing Eiden and Yakumo to separate. He doesn't say that, though; doesn't want to turn Eiden's thoughts toward melancholy.]
I'm glad. You deserve a loving home. [Not just an empty building.]

I'm so sorry
[To be clear he is like. Outside the warehouse but if Eiden won't come out then that's fine; he'll just leave a drink for him outside the door.]

H-hey...

Eiden, I'm so sorry. This is...
[It's horrible. What else is there to say? He trails off in miserable silence for a moment, then changes gears.]
I, um--I brought some wine. If you wanted it. [He's not sure Eiden drinks, or is in the mood for it even if he does, but. It's all he has to offer.]

Wine... sounds really great right now actually.

It does. And the taste stops mattering once you've had enough to drink, really.
[Spoken like someone who drowns his sorrows more often than not,,,]
no subject
[ going to just take a sip after giving him a little cheers of the cup. ]
That's what matters, honestly. If I can just kind of... forget for a little. Doesn't have to be long.
[ he holds out his free hand. ]

[If that's the only thing he can do, then that's what he'll do.
He reaches out to take Eiden's hand, gripping tightly for a moment before it settles into something more normal.]
...Will you tell me more about your world? Anything about it.

That sounds like an even worse job than Grand Sage. [But he says it like, wryly, not meanly.]

[ a warm smile. ] The people I get to come home to... it's not what I'm used to. But I... think I like it a lot.

There are definitely days when I can't stand any of my clan members, though.
