[ hi we're at the eifflefelefefjelge tower. eiden has made his way up with his sketchbook and phone in tow. when he sees luo wenzhou he just... makes his way over to him and stands next to him. hi, dad.
he's not feeling anything right now, he's just kind of blank for a bit, gazing out a little and avoiding the temptation to look down. ]
[ wenzhou is leaning with his arms on the railing, nice and steady and not at risk of falling or vertigo.
he glances out of the corner of his eye when he sees eiden, but goes back to looking out. he is welcome. his emotions are... a little wrung out, but still steady. ]
[ he can feel that wrung out sensation and just sinks into his shoulders too, leaning against the rail. ]
I was gonna try. But I kind of would rather just not think at all.
[ he looks at him and just. reaches over with a hand to touch his shoulder if allowed. he's doing his best to just... (genshin voice) stabilize now that he's been geo-ified until monday. ]
... Bout you? Fresh air? The view? Existential dread?
wenzhou allows the touch, reaching up to touch his fingers - then, curl them around his, giving a squeeze to show his gratitude. he is just. so tired. ]
Fresh air. Quiet - you can stick around. I mostly just needed away from the group at large, after the shitshow that was the end of trial.
Be nice to not think. But I have to do damage control on Fei Du's bullshit of throwing himself under the bus to take the heat off of Libby.
oh... he just, squeezes back and presses closer. eiden is tactile, and he's got a streak for Objectifying Men, but wenzhou has been enough to him that he's sort of hugging him because he doesn't want him to disappear suddenly on the wind like a vision. ]
Well. [ he forgets they're on top of a tower, it's easy to when he feels this safe, even after all of that, even with all of the uncertainty hanging in the air for tomorrow. ] Don't know if I can be any help, but...
honestly, even three weeks in, wenzhou has not fully realized that the initial one was touch week. he is also tactile by nature, though not typically too huggy. so he doesn't mind that eiden is up in his space like this - he goes so far as to release his hand, bringing up his arm to offer him space underneath it against him.
he's small enough that it'll be a good fit. safe, from the distant world beneath the tower. ]
If you talk to Libby tonight, be nice to her. [ softly. melancholy. ] I figure you will be, but she's had a long couple of days. Otherwise, fuck if I know - this situation is a little out of all of our hands, at this point, and I'm tired enough to admit it just this once.
[ he just kind of stays here cooped up under his arm. he's angry, but it's... not at libby, and it's not even at fei du for being a moron. because he's a moron. a smart moron. he's just angry at this place. ]
Definitely. I promise.
I don't want to see what happens tomorrow... but I'll go anyways.
[ swelling warmth, he can't provide ease, but he can try and be steady. grounded. ]
We do. We have to do it all over again. The more we do it... the more we learn, even if it's miserable.
[ wenzhou is a roiling sea of emotions, but there's a dawnslight on the horizon of it. for all that he's wrung out, tired, angry, he's just - he's not giving up. he'll bolster eiden back in response to the warmth. ]
Mistakes mean progress, right? Someone said that once, probably, even if it does feel pretty miserable right now. [ a wry laugh ] But you don't have to stay and watch, if you don't feel up to it. I wouldn't take that choice from anyone.
It's not fun, staying. But I'm a stubborn bastard that needs to see a case to the end. And, like I told Kazuki... I'd rather go, and be there, than regret not going and be needed the one time I didn't show.
Mistakes mean progress... it's not advice everyone wants to hear, because no one wants to make mistakes. But it's pretty damn true.
[ he repeats it, softly, like it's something he's going to remember from this moment on. he appreciates it, being told that he doesn't have to stay, but as he goes on, eiden just... nods. because really, that's just it. ]
I'm going to no matter what mood I'm in tomorrow. I need to.
[ this is good, this is maybe the best he's felt all evening. the hope is here, he's got hope too, but it's really here and he nods firmly. he's pretty resolved on going to the erasure, and he will later find out that that's a giant mistake that will send him spiraling.
but that's for tomorrow eiden. for now, he's pretty content. ]
