That's just-- how things were there. What you saw... it doesn't sound like it's out of the ordinary, for what I know, except for the fact that you remembered going through all of it.
...yeah. That's... more or less why I was like that, back then. You stay there long enough and it just feels hopeless, you know? There was no point in trying to save anyone. If they are saved, they're just going to die later, and at some point you're going to do it all over again.
It's easy to get worn down and start thinking that way.
